About The Position

The Global Women’s Health Division at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an OB/ GYN Sonographer to join our research team and support maternal and fetal health studies. This position provides an opportunity to apply clinical ultrasound expertise in a research setting focused on improving pregnancy outcomes and expanding access to obstetric ultrasound in both local and global settings. The Research Sonographer will perform protocol-specific prenatal ultrasound examinations, collect high-quality ultrasound images and measurements, and participate in ultrasound image annotation activities for ongoing research studies. While the Division supports a variety of maternal and fetal health research initiatives, the current focus of this position is the recruitment, consenting, and performance of research ultrasound examinations for late third-trimester participants on the Labor & Delivery unit at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Responsibilities also include study visit coordination, data collection, and maintenance of study documentation. Working closely with investigators, research staff, healthcare providers, and study participants, the specialist will help ensure accurate data collection and adherence to study protocols. The Global Women’s Health Division conducts maternal and fetal health research in North Carolina and at international research sites. As studies evolve, the Research Sonographer may support multiple protocols and assist with additional research activities as needed.
