About The Position

The Medical Courier Per Diem will pick up and transport parcels, packages, and other deliverables. This role involves coordinating with central dispatch to track orders, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of various items, including those requiring special handling like frozen or perishable goods. The courier will also be responsible for picking up specimens from off-site locations and transporting them to Saint Peter's Lab, adhering to the Vehicle Policy, and performing daily vehicle maintenance checks. Additionally, the position includes training new staff on routes and procedures and maintaining the confidentiality of all handled materials.

Requirements

Must possess a valid NJ driver's license and a minimum 3 years of a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently.
Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff, other Hospital personnel, patients and external contacts.

Responsibilities

Pick up and transport parcels, packages, and other deliverables.
Coordinate with central dispatch to track waiting and completed orders.
Provide friendly customer service to every client.
Ensure package safety and observe transportation requirements, such as with frozen or perishable deliveries.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
Pick-up specimens at off-site locations and transport to Saint Peter's Lab as directed.
Follow the Vehicle Policy and perform daily vehicle maintenance checks, including fluids, equipment, and cleaning.
Train new staff on routes and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
