About The Position

Responsible for assessing, facilitating, and monitoring all components of client medical services. The Medical Coordinator must ensure all federal and state regulations are followed. The Medical Coordinator must work collaboratively with all the medical personal, case managers, clinicians, Youth Specialist and Asst. Director.

Requirements

  • HS or associate degree.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, child welfare, medical billing, clerical work, and administrative duties.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Medical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, compile, and maintain medical files on each admission.
  • Ensure proper daily documentation in the ORR-UC Portal and maintain hard copy of required documents and medical records.
  • Close medical files when minors are discharged.
  • Prepare medical discharge packets and give them to Case Manager for minors that are being discharged.
  • Assure all hard copy files are organized and up to state and federal standards.
  • Consistently review hard copy files to assure they are compliant.
  • Schedule and comply with required medical and dental appointments on a timely basis. This includes requesting a TAR, once approved, preparing necessary documents needed for appointments.
  • Assure the Unit Supervisors receive the package for the appointment.
  • Follow up with the outcome of any appointment; request the appointment paperwork, and the completed Treatment Contact Form.
  • Complete all mandated ORR & Abbott House training on a timely basis.
  • Prepare youth for physical examinations, take vital signs, height, and weight. If certified, then the MC will also draw blood and vaccinate the minors.
  • Attending all ORR & Abbott House medical meetings.
  • Review medication cabinets & medical binders on a weekly basis.
  • Create a medication log and instruction sheet for each child on medication and administer first dose if medication arrives during your shift.
  • Create a weekly update summary for each child on the caseload.
  • Attend the weekly medical assistants’ meeting.
  • Stay with the Pediatrician during physical examinations.
  • Maintain Health Information Privacy HIPAA.
  • Perform clerical duties, and assure the medical office is clean and sanitized.
  • Attend weekly pre-staffing, staffing, & large muscle movement excursions on a rotation.
  • Any other related duties as required.
