Requirements

• Must be credentialed (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent).
• Demonstrate knowledge of VA-specific coding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and complete medical coding services in accordance with VA guidelines, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards.
• Maintain an overall coding accuracy rate of 95% or above.
• Index 15 Administrative documents per hour.
• Index 10 NVCC/Fee (Non-VA Care) documents per hour.
• Perform 100% self-QA on all indexed records.
• Code Observation – non-billable: 4 per day.
• Code Observation – Billable: 3 per day.
• Code Inpatient – Billable: 3 per day.
• Code Inpatient – non-billable: 5 per day.
• Code Outpatient / Recurring / Pro Fees: 30 per day.
• Code Surgery: 7 per day.
• Code Prosthetics: 30 per day.
• Maintain an overall coding accuracy of 95% or above across all record types.
• Perform coding in accordance with current Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Code all diagnoses and procedures to the highest degree of specificity.
• Complete queries to providers, when required, in a timely and compliant manner.
