About The Position

This position title is Revenue Cycle Analyst, and the basic functions are a Medical Billing Specialist. Duties include but are not limited to, uploading bank files, balancing to a shared (hospital) financial spreadsheet, calling insurances and working assigned claims worklists. A Medical Billing Specialist reconciles and posts all payments received, identifies discrepancies and analyzes issues to ensure payments are posted timely. Manages Athena claims worklists as assigned. Reports to: Patient Financial Services Director

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Minimum Work Experience At least 5 years of in Finance or Billing required
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of CPT and HCPK codes

Nice To Haves

• Excel experience along with medical billing is preferred
• a coding background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for reviewing and maintaining charge description master (CDM), and/other pertinent regulations and policies, ensuring all data elements are accurate and comply with all payor requirements.
• Analyzes financial and utilization data to provide decision-making information relating to specific revenue cycle metrics and reimbursement.
• Reviews and interprets various regulatory billing and coding updates, to remain compliant and accurate to minimize misbillings.
• Resolves issues that arise from information submitted and revenue cycle issues.
• Provides validation reviews, audits, documentation and training for the area of knowledge, sharing information with Finance, Medical Records and other revenue producing areas or departments.
• Works closely with the lab to ensure all necessary late charges are applied to the accurate account.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
