As a Medical Billing & Insurance Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the financial health of our practice while serving as a trusted resource for our patients. You will be responsible for managing insurance claims, payments, and patient billing inquiries with accuracy, professionalism, and compassion.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience preferred
  • Background in insurance billing, payment posting, and denial management
  • In-depth understanding of PPO, Medicare, HMO, and Medi-Cal plans
  • Highly skilled in reading and interpreting EOBs
  • Proficient with insurance portals and online claim systems
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Dependable, hardworking, and accountable
  • Comfortable making outbound calls to insurance companies and patients
  • Professional, calm, and patient-focused demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Answering billing-related calls and responding to patient inquiries in a professional, clear, and empathetic manner
  • Confidently contacting insurance companies and patients for payment follow-ups and claim resolution
  • Processing patient payments accurately and securely
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and explaining Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to patients
  • Submitting and managing medical records requests
  • Managing claim denials, including research, appeals, and persistent follow-up
  • Working with PPO, Medicare, HMO, and Medi-Cal insurance plans
  • Submitting claims, checking claim status, and filing appeals through insurance portals and online systems
  • Maintaining accurate, well-documented billing records in a paperless environment
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies efficiently
