About The Position

This role involves both clinical and administrative duties within a podiatry practice. The Medical Assistant/Scribe will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians with procedures, and managing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth office operations.

Requirements

Proficiency in taking patient vitals.
Experience with electronic health records (Epic preferred).
Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
Ability to assist with medical procedures.
Experience with casting and wound care (nail debridement, callus/corn debridement, dressing changes).
Experience performing X-rays.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform data entry and schedule appointments.
Experience with insurance verification.

Responsibilities

Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals and recording medical history into Epic.
Escorts patients to and from exam rooms.
Complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with surgical centers, verifying times with patients, and preparing necessary forms.
Assists the physician with procedures, including giving injections.
Performs casting for orthotics, applying below-knee casts, and applying low-dying strapping to feet.
Applies Unna Boots.
Performs nail debridement and callus/corn debridement.
Performs dressing changes.
Performs X-rays.
Documents phone calls and updates logs.
Orders, sorts, and stores supplies, and restocks exam rooms.
Cleans exam areas, sets up instruments and equipment, and cleans the sterilizer.
Greets patients, answers office phones, performs data entry, and schedules appointments.
Assists front office staff as needed.
Performs manual insurance verifications.
Performs any other duties determined appropriate by management.
