Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related health care profession or an associate in applied science degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work a schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Combination of education and industry credentials to demonstrate content expertise.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Current AHA-BLS CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant clinical healthcare field.
  • Current CMA (AAMA) certification in Medical Assisting or current license or credentials in a health care discipline is preferred (for example, CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), RN, & LPN).

Responsibilities

  • Provides didactic and/or skills laboratory instruction as assigned by the Medical Assisting Department Head.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance, grades assignments promptly, and provides timely feedback.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional session while maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Counsels students on their grades and academic progress, holds regular office hours for consultation, and provides academic advising.
  • Maintains current certifications, licensure, or credentials required to practice in the profession.
  • Uses diverse instructional and evaluation methods that align with learning styles and teaching/learning theory.
  • Participates in ongoing curriculum evaluation and recommends changes based on program needs.
  • Engages in continuous professional growth and development activities.
