About The Position

The Medical Assistant is the first contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative tasks in addition to patient care. The Medical Assistant performs advanced administrative, operational, customer support responsibilities that require independent initiative and judgment. The Medical Assistant performs clinical tasks such as discussing symptoms and obtaining vital signs. They also administer medications and vaccines, perform phlebotomy, and collect specimens. Additionally, they perform diagnostic screening tests, sterilize and clean equipment, and maintain examination rooms. Finally, they document information into the electronic medical records system. Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Deliver direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions typically focus on methods and tactics for completing administrative tasks/projects. Regularly, exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests. Exercises interpretation and adaptation of procedures, processes, and techniques. Works under limited guidance due to previous experience and breadth and depth of knowledge of administrative processes and organizational knowledge. The Medical Assistant has advanced knowledge, contributes to process improvement, delivers in-depth training, and provides advanced guidance/mentoring to other Medical Assistants.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
  • Must be screened for TB

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years MA experience in PCO center
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication
