This role is responsible for delivering patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation. The Medical Assistant will assist with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration. They will administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under the direction of providers, prepare and organize patient charts, and file dictations. Responsibilities also include communicating with patients regarding test results, scheduling procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries, and providing pre- and post-surgery information. The role involves assisting with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals, coordinating physician schedules, and ensuring insurance pre-certifications. Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to organizational standards and ethical guidelines are crucial. The Medical Assistant will educate patients and families, promote evidence-based resources, and serve as a patient advocate. Additional duties include documenting patient plans of care, escalating issues to management, ensuring safety checklists are completed, and maintaining knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. The role may involve cross-coverage in other clinic areas and assisting in training new colleagues.
