The Radiation Oncology Medical Assistant is responsible for patient care activities that include but are not limited to obtaining vital signs, obtaining blood specimens, and assisting nursing and medical staff in performing invasive and non-invasive procedures, such as bone marrow aspirates. Indirect patient care activities include those that support clinic operations such as ordering and stocking clinical supplies and patient education materials, transporting patients and specimens as needed, and monitoring the environment of care. The position requirements include organizational skills with attention to detail, thoroughness, practical decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. This position reports to Practice Manager and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individual's intellectual level and physical ability. This position requires patient care and involves care for Infants, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients.
