About The Position

GLPP Medical Assistant is a full-time float position. The Medical Assistant will greet and escort patients, complete clinical assessments, and document them in the patient electronic medical record. They will collaborate with physicians and other health team members, implement physician orders, and evaluate patient response to the plan of care using the teach-back method. The role involves open communication with patients and the health team, serving as a liaison for patients with outside agencies, and respecting patient rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. The Medical Assistant will maintain positive interpersonal relationships, adhere to health system policies, and assist with the care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic clinical skills delivering patient care and clerical skills in an outpatient setting.
  • Obtains and maintains successful completion of BCLS Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and public.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical practice experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
  • Completes clinical assessments of patients by completing history of present disease and illnesses with accuracy and documents appropriately in patient electronic medical record.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in implementing physician orders.
  • Incorporates holistic approach to Patient Centered Medical Home, thus moving beyond problem focused care.
  • Implements and documents clinical and technical aspects of care.
  • Evaluates patient’s response and understanding to plan of care by using teach back method.
  • Openly and appropriately communicates with patients, physicians, and other members of health team.
  • Serves as a liaison for patients with outside agencies, businesses, and providers, establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.
  • Respect’s patient’s rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Maintains established health system and work area policies and procedures, objectives, guest relations, safety, environmental and infection control guidelines.
  • Assists in care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
