About The Position

The GVH Family Medicine Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their patient care team. This role is crucial as the Medical Assistant is often the first point of contact for patients. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient examinations and treatments under the supervision of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider. The clinic emphasizes continuous learning and growth opportunities, offering training for the right candidate and a structured Clinical Ladder program.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required.

Nice To Haves

Previous family practice, clinic, or hospital experience preferred.
EMR experience preferred.
Current CPR/BLS preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and prepare them for physician evaluation, including discussing the reason for their visit and taking/documenting vital signs.
Record and complete appropriate information in patient charts regarding symptoms, drug allergies, current medications, and dosage.
Perform point-of-care tests such as EKGs, Urine HCG, blood sugar tests, urinalysis, hemoccult, peak flow, and nebulizer treatments.
Coordinate patient flow in examination and treatment areas to ensure efficiency.
Provide follow-up with patients regarding test results and progress check-ins as directed by the physician.
Perform general cleaning duties, including restocking drawers, treatment trays, and treatment rooms daily.
Complete specimen handling, processing, and paperwork for send-out tests.
Perform clerical functions as assigned by the practice director.
