Assists with the provision of quality patient care and performs required administrative tasks. This role may require occasional floating to other NCH Primary Care clinics based on staffing needs. The Medical Assistant will prepare correspondence, documents, reports, and other materials of varying complexity and confidentiality, sometimes requiring independent judgment. They will schedule patient appointments and provide follow-up and reminder calls. The position involves assisting with various clinical tasks such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, heights and weights, and asking applicable screening questions. The Medical Assistant provides basic, supportive patient care and administers approved medications under the delegation of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. They collect and report data to a licensed professional, including any abnormalities, and document all findings in the medical record. Additionally, the Medical Assistant may act as a preceptor for the orientation and training of new staff, float staff, and students as directed.
