About The Position

Provides medical assistant services to patients and families, assists physicians and mid-level practitioners with patient care. Performs all clinical functions in a physician's office, including assisting with treatments, obtaining and processing specimens, maintaining medical information, managing supplies, patient education, obtaining histories and vitals, triaging patient calls, handling prescription refills, communicating results as directed, and managing prior authorizations, telephone answering, and appointment scheduling.

Requirements

Maintaining medical information and filing/scanning
Maintaining sample supplies
Ordering and maintaining clinical supplies as needed
Patient education
Obtaining histories and vitals from patients
Triage patient calls
Prescription refills
Call backs for normal or abnormal results as per physician direction
Prior authorization as needed
Telephone answering and appointment scheduling as needed
Responsible for equipment safety
Maintains exam rooms and workstations
Performs venipunctures
Performs EKGs

Responsibilities

Prepares patients for provider visits by gathering reason for visit, history, symptoms, problems, weight, height, vital signs, medications, and allergies.
Administers medications to patients as ordered by the physician.
Notifies patients of lab and test results.
Collects specimens and performs limited lab tests.
Performs tests as ordered by the physician.
Maintains drug sample inventory and rotates stock.
Ensures documentation in the medical record is complete and accurate.
Maintains exam rooms and workstations.
Schedules tests.
Performs venipunctures and EKGs as ordered by providers.
Maintains medical information, including filing and scanning.
