About The Position

Esse Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our Tesson Ferry Pediatrics office. This is an outpatient clinical practice with a start time of 7:30 a.m. You can choose between a 9-hour shift, 4 days a week, or an 8-hour shift, Monday - Friday. Staff shares rotating coverage of a Saturday morning shift approximately once a month. There are no nights or holidays. The Medical Assistant will perform back office functions, assist providers with patient care, and will be cross-trained to cover the front desk.

Requirements

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
CPR Certification.
PC/Windows proficiency.
Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.

Nice To Haves

Medical coding familiarity.

Responsibilities

Perform back office functions
Assist the provider in the interviewing, examination and treatment of patients
Perform phlebotomy
Measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height
Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (NextGen)
Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team
Perform patient check-in/check-out
Schedule patient appointments
Collect co-payments
Verify insurance
Register patients/update patient demographics
Answer the telephone
Balance monies at day end
