We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our practice, working 40 hours per week. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM at our 250 Paradise Road location in Swampscott, MA. The position will consist of 8-hour shifts, with start and end times staggered within the practice’s operating hours. This Medical Assistant will be paired 1:1 with a provider helping to support supports a high-volume ambulatory family medicine practice. The ideal candidate will have completed a Medical Assistant training program or possess at least one year of professional Medical Assistant experience and hold a national MA certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT). Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required

Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred
Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experience

Responsibilities

Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
