About The Position

The Medical Assistant works in a fast-paced, paperless urgent care clinic that primarily treats lower-acuity patients. The clinic is patient-centric and focused on providing excellent medical care. The role includes clinical care, procedure support, laboratory testing, and front-desk coverage. The position requires availability and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program, except where applicable law permits exemption based on experience, diploma, and/or national certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Willingness to obtain DOT certification.
• Strong communication skills.
• Availability and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Take patient vitals and history, and triage patients.
• Assist with procedures, including incision and drainage, laceration care, and wound care.
• Administer medications by intradermal, intramuscular, and subcutaneous routes.
• Perform ear lavages and run EKGs.
• Conduct laboratory tests, including urinalysis, urine pregnancy tests, blood glucose testing, monospot, rapid strep and influenza tests, and rapid HIV tests.
• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties as needed.
• Complete training and obtain Department of Transportation certification to perform urine drug screens and breath alcohol tests.
• Room patients and clean rooms.
