About The Position

Jackson Purchase Medical Center is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for its Gastroenterology team. The position supports routine clinical and administrative work in an outpatient gastroenterology setting. The team provides specialized, patient-centered evaluation, treatment, and preventive care for digestive and gastrointestinal health needs, working collaboratively to serve communities throughout western Kentucky.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on days. The role includes collecting vital signs and patient histories, updating electronic health records, assisting providers with exams and procedures, supporting medication or injection administration, performing basic laboratory tasks, preparing specimens, and keeping exam rooms clean and stocked. It also supports front-office operations and care coordination, including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and patient education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Current BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
• CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification.
• Previous phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine clinical and administrative duties in support of the assigned office or area.
• Take vital signs, document patient history, and update electronic health records.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures, and with administering medications or injections.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks and prepare specimens.
• Maintain clean and stocked examination rooms.
• Support front-office operations and patient care coordination, including scheduling, insurance verification, and patient education.
