About The Position

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking to hire a full time Medical Assistant based in our Chalfont, PA office. This position will require travel to offices within the region for coverage purposes. The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. This role involves increasing patient satisfaction, ensuring compliance with schedule preparation, voicemail management, accurate end-of-day batching, adherence to time stamping, compliance with clinical policies and procedures, managing wait times, and ensuring timeliness and accuracy with pre-certifications and authorizations.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED minimum education requirement
  • Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Active National Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in medical office preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.
  • Directs patient throughout the patient experience including to orthotics, rehab, surgery scheduling, xray and/or front desk.
  • Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
  • Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
  • Provides and scans proper paperwork into the chart for Physician's review.
  • Obtains and records vitals per Physician's request.
  • Prepares injections for the Physician as per protocols.
  • Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies, including reports associated, pertaining to the patient's exam.
  • Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
  • Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
  • Answers telephones in patient treatment areas.
  • Requests, obtains and uploads reports from various facilities for Physicians to have available for review.
  • Empties and restocks laundry.
  • Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
  • Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
  • Completes pre-certifications for MRI's, injectable, and other Physician orders as necessary.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative.
  • Covers other areas in the office as directed by their manager.
  • Covers Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested.
  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
  • Reads and responds to email communications within appropriate time frame.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Identifies weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager.
  • Handles specimens (including urine, blood and drainage from incisions, and aspirated fluids, etc) and label accordingly.
  • Follow order instructions of provider to ensure specimen is sent to appropriate lab for analyzation.
