About The Position

HealthWorks Family Medicine is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join their team in Paducah, KY. This experienced role is responsible for a variety of clinical, documentation, patient communication, and administrative duties within a fast-paced primary care setting. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in patient care, ensuring efficient clinic operations and maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems and basic medical terminology required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred but not required based on state regulations.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Previous primary care or family medicine experience preferred.
  • Experience caring for pediatric and adult patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for provider evaluation.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medication lists, allergies, and reason for visit.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain adequate clinical supplies.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer injections, immunizations, medications, and other treatments as ordered by the provider and within scope of practice.
  • Perform point-of-care testing including but not limited to strep, flu, COVID, A1C, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, and EKGs.
  • Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens according to office protocols.
  • Perform ear lavages, breathing treatments, wound care, and other delegated clinical tasks as appropriate.
  • Assist with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient care needs.
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards in all patient care areas.
  • Accurately document patient information, provider orders, and clinical procedures within the EMR system.
  • Review and update medication lists, histories, and pharmacy information.
  • Process prescription refill requests according to office policy and provider direction.
  • Complete clinical tasks, messages, and patient communication in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers with documentation and chart preparation as needed.
  • Document patient phone calls, provider instructions, and follow-up communication appropriately within the EMR.
  • Contact patients regarding laboratory and diagnostic imaging results as directed by the provider.
  • Communicate provider recommendations, medication changes, and follow-up instructions clearly and professionally.
  • Answer patient questions and route concerns to the appropriate provider or staff member when necessary.
  • Return patient phone calls and portal messages within established office guidelines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and minimizing wait times.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms daily.
  • Monitor and report supply needs to management.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-train and assist with additional clinical or administrative duties as needed.
