About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a passionate and driven Medical Assistant to join their Acute Spine clinic, serving patients in Boise and Nampa. This role supports an established physician in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic that treats a variety of pain conditions including neuropathic pain, joint pain, inflammatory and osteoarthritic pain, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic neck and back pain, and cancer-related pain. The clinic's board-certified surgeons and neurosurgeons focus on providing quality care for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions, developing individualized treatment plans with advanced medical care, innovative therapies, and personalized service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA).
  • For New Graduates: MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school, and completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of externship hours.
  • For Medical Assistants with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support a busy and established physician.
  • Work 1:1 with the physician and Patient Service Representative in a small clinic environment (Nampa).
  • Work out of the Boise Pain Care Center with other clinical staff (Boise).
  • Serve a specialized patient population requiring coordinated care, timely assessment, patient education, procedural support, and ongoing communication.
  • Collect medical history.
  • Assist with chart preparation.
  • Review and track referrals.
  • Conduct prior authorizations.
  • Set up for procedures.
