About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care in a primary care setting, practicing within the State of Ohio scope of practice and working under the direction of a provider or registered nurse and the practice manager. The role follows Mount Carmel Health System, Mount Carmel Medical Group, and department-specific policies and procedures. The position is located at 55 North High Street in New Albany, Ohio. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 1–2 years of medical experience, or a bachelor's or associate degree in a science or health field.
• Current BLS/CPR certification and ability to maintain current certification.
• For applicants substituting experience for the required education, 2–3 years of previous medical office experience is required.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a medical assistant program.
• Medical Assistant certification or registration; for MCMG, a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or registration is preferred.
• Graduation from EMT, EMT-P, or Military Medical Corpsman training.
• One to two years of medical assisting experience.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and room patients, including measuring height, weight, and vital signs.
• Review medical history and chief complaints, and gather other relevant information.
• Perform blood draws, injections, and EKGs.
• Respond to in-basket messages and handle patient follow-up calls and messages.
• Use EPIC.
