Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent or appropriate work experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of general medical terminology, hospital policies and procedures, and Joint Commission and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain accurate patient medical records.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Analytical skills to determine job priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and record vital signs, identifying and reporting abnormal values.
  • Assist with patient arrival, schedule appointments, and facilitate patient exit.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies according to organizational policy.
  • Provide for patient comfort needs, considering age and special needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of clinic equipment, including preparation, safety testing, cleaning, and disinfection.
  • Maintain linens, supplies, and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Collect, prepare, and secure laboratory specimens for testing and/or transport.
  • Document patient information appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Navigate the Electronic Medical Record to obtain results, outside medical records, and update patient data.
  • Prepare safety reports as directed by the Clinic Manager.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate honesty, promptness, dependability, courtesy, and respect in interactions.
  • Consult and keep the clinic manager informed of clinic activities and issues.
  • Manage patient and co-worker complaints calmly and report them to the clinic manager.
  • Implement standard and transmission-based precautions.
  • Ensure patient safety during clinic visits.
  • Report safety hazards or violations to the Clinic Manager.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Process activities.
  • Gather clinical documentation for provider review.
  • Obtain medical records from outside facilities.
  • Scan outside correspondence into the electronic medical record.
  • Answer and route telephone calls promptly.
