Lone Star Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist physicians with medical procedures in the office. This role is responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. The Medical Assistant will perform laboratory blood work, prepare slides, send outside labs, and maintain logs and records according to regulatory agencies. They will also obtain vital signs, place patients in exam rooms, receive and document lab reports, and assist physicians with various procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams. Additionally, the role involves scheduling outside testing and referrals, thorough documentation in medical records, preparing scan and CDs for physician review, maintaining supply inventory, troubleshooting instrument malfunctions, performing EKG testing, and ensuring laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. The Medical Assistant must adhere to safety guidelines, maintain cleanliness, and comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, rights, safety, billing, and collections. They will also assist in training new employees and may be expected to work at any AON location or work overtime when needed.
