About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide basic clinical and clerical support in patient care. This role involves continued training and offers opportunities for professional and interpersonal development through a Medical Assistant career ladder program. The position is based in Farmington, CT, with potential travel to Glastonbury offices. Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is a large, physician-led medical group in New England, known for its primary care, urgent care, and extensive specialty services.

Requirements

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.
  • In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office.
  • EPIC EMR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education.
  • Experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.
  • Conducts vitals, outside medication reconciliation, outside allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
  • Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
  • Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed.
  • Provides administrative support including scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
  • Floats to other offices based on business needs.
  • Travels between Farmington and Glastonbury offices.
  • Participates in a clinical ladder for Medical Assistants based on experience, skillsets, and certifications held.
