About The Position

Sun River Health is currently seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant to support our Poughkeepsie location. The Medical Assistant plays an important role in supporting high-quality, patient-centered care by assisting providers and the clinical team with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The Medical Assistant helps ensure an efficient patient experience while maintaining a welcoming, professional, and organized clinical environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Previous Medical Assistant or related clinical experience preferred.
  • National Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required, unless otherwise specified for the position.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with patients, colleagues, and providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • Previous Medical Assistant or related clinical experience
  • National Medical Assistant certification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and relevant patient information.
  • Assist providers and other clinical staff during patient visits, examinations, and procedures as appropriate.
  • Support patient flow by preparing examination rooms and ensuring rooms are properly stocked and ready for use.
  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling, referrals, follow-up activities, and other patient care coordination needs as assigned.
  • Provide patients with instructions and information consistent with direction from the clinical team.
  • Maintain appropriate infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure medical supplies and clinical areas are appropriately maintained and organized.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other members of the care team to support an efficient and positive patient experience.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the Medical Assistant role as assigned.
