About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Florida is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their talented team in their Kissimmee health center. This role is integral to the organization's mission of providing exceptional, cutting-edge sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion, through education, advocacy, and clinical services that are affordable, accessible, and available to all people in the community, regardless of income, race, marital status, religion, or sexual orientation. Employment is contingent upon a Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) year of experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in dealing with the public.
  • The ability to learn ultrasound, procedural assistance and AB lab as well as other skill enhancements at the discretion of the affiliate.
  • Must have a strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and sound decision-making skills.
  • Must have a commitment to efficiency and quality.
  • Must be comfortable when discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy options.
  • Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical care and reproductive rights experience helpful.
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, including medical and social histories, and perform STI screenings and point-of-care testing.
  • Educate patients in a non-directive manner on birth control options and pregnancy-related services, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly prepped and sanitized between patients, and assist with basic clinical tasks and lab work in accordance with medical standards.
  • Provide excellent patient service aligned with Planned Parenthood’s values of respect, equity, and inclusion.
  • Accurately maintain patient records and documentation while upholding confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • Support the daily operations of the health center through cross-functional collaboration, flexibility, and accountability.
