Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in performing quality control procedures, laboratory blood work, and blood draws, adhering strictly to laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. The Medical Assistant will perform technical laboratory procedures accurately and precisely, meeting regulatory standards, and prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation. Responsibilities also include managing outside lab submissions, maintaining essential logs and records, and ensuring patient identification compliance. The role involves obtaining and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for physician examinations, and receiving and documenting lab reports. Assisting physicians with various medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams is a key function. Scheduling outside testing, referrals, and hospital admissions may also be required. Thorough documentation in the medical record, preparation of encounter forms for billing, and documentation of all QC and QA corrective actions are essential. The Medical Assistant will also manage supply inventory, initiate troubleshooting for instrument malfunctions, perform EKG testing, and ensure laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. This includes performing compliance testing, obtaining necessary CEUs, observing safety guidelines, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness. Adherence to all laws, regulations, and company policies, including patient confidentiality, is mandatory. The role may involve training new employees and working at any AON location, including overtime and occasional weekend shifts as needed to meet business demands.
