As a Medical Assistant at Hometown Urgent Care, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery by assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring the safety, welfare, and comfort of our patients. This is for our Garfield Heights Clinic with possible travel to other local clinics within the Region.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Taking patient history and obtaining vital signs.
  • Performing basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing.
  • Performing necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples.
  • Accurately completing corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples.
  • Performing subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately completing paperwork according to policy for that procedure.
  • Performing point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels.
  • Dispensing and documenting medications and other treatment modalities.
  • Ensuring sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave.
  • Scheduling and coordinating necessary records for ancillary care for patients.
  • Assisting providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ortho-glass preparation).
  • Performing occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals.
  • Maintaining confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA).
  • Ensuring equipment is in working order and reporting equipment malfunctions to the manager.
  • Logging laboratory procedures completed and processing related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient’s education.
  • Maintaining examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocking necessary medical supplies.
  • Performing duties to ensure good patient flow.
  • Performing registration duties: explaining to patients accepted insurances and those out of network, and being knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collecting and recording payments, and completing registration screen in a timely manner.
  • Traveling to care centers within the designated region.
  • Protecting patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information.
  • Cleaning and stocking the site with other members of the team.
  • Training other team members.
