About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our Urgent Care team. This full-time position involves a range of patient care duties, from taking vital signs and patient history to assisting with medical procedures and administering medications. You will also manage front desk operations and potentially become certified to perform DOT drug and alcohol tests. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient and high-quality patient care in our urgent care setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program (except in those locations(s) permitted by law for exemption with experience, diploma and/or national certification)
• Current BLS certification
• Willingness to obtain DOT certification

Nice To Haves

• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant
• Phlebotomy experience
• Great communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care by taking vitals, patient history and triaging
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes
• Carry out ear lavages and run EKGs
• Conduct lab testing such as urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, blood glucose testing, monospot, rapid strep and influenza testing, rapid hiv testing
• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties as needed
• Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests
