About The Position

Coastal Health is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Spine & Pain team in our St. Marys, Georgia office. Our St. Marys clinic provides comprehensive spine and pain management services with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.
Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
Minimum three (3) years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
Current documentation of medical assistant certification preferred.
Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a medical office preferred; specialty clinic experience is a plus.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation.
Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures.
Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and diagnostic testing as needed.
Provide excellent customer service while ensuring a positive patient experience.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow all clinical policies and procedures.
