About The Position

Coastal Health is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Spine & Pain team in our St. Marys, Georgia office. Our St. Marys clinic provides comprehensive spine and pain management services with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
  • Current documentation of medical assistant certification preferred.
  • Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office preferred; specialty clinic experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation.
  • Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and diagnostic testing as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service while ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow all clinical policies and procedures.
