About The Position

General Summary of Duties: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, procedures, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment monitoring and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Essential Functions: Performs patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, obtain and transport blood and tissue samples, preparing for exam, etc.; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures including: embryo transfers, artificial insemination, water sonograms and hysteroscopies; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Treatment case management for Natural and Oral medicated intercourse and artificial insemination cycles. Responsible for voicemail line answering general clinical and cycle questions. Performs clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Performs environmental responsibilities as assigned, which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Performs organizational responsibilities as assigned, which may include: respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly. Performs Phlebotomy procedures including: blood draws, processing sample, and lab requisitions. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
  • Certificate from accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Maintain California State License for Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-I).

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • California State License for Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-I) can be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with performing injections preferred.
