Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions. The Orthopedic Surgery Department provides comprehensive care for conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Services include the diagnosis and treatment of fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, spine disorders, and other musculoskeletal conditions. The department offers both non-surgical and surgical treatments, including joint replacement, minimally invasive procedures, and trauma care, supported by a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists focused on restoring mobility, reducing pain, and improving quality of life.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify.
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
- Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

- Phlebotomy skills are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
- Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
