About The Position

MarinHealth is an integrated, independent healthcare system with deep roots throughout the North Bay. We are growing quickly and are looking for talented individuals to join our team. MarinHealth comprises MarinHealth Medical Center and a network of primary care and specialty clinics. We offer the opportunity to work with pioneering medicine in an independent hospital setting. This Medical Assistant - Front/Back Swing role, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management. The role assists providers within their scope of practice to provide quality patient care, including gathering patient information, assessing patient requests, monitoring vital signs, assisting with procedures, and re-processing instruments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
  • A Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA and AMCA is required.
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
  • At least one year of related medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Allscripts Experience preferred
  • Re-processing/ procedural experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms their frequency, and severity.
  • Provide courteous and compassionate care.
  • Document all required information in electronic medical record, including meaningful Use data, Pay for Performance data, and ACO related information.
  • Provide injections, immunizations and other patient care services as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Provide assistance during medical procedures.
  • Use electronic medical records and work off “task lists” to complete patient visits or requests.
  • Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
  • Provide patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns.
  • Maintain patient records and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
  • Disinfects exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at end of the day.
  • Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.
  • Answer telephones in a cheerful manner.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Take messages for patients using electronic medical records.
  • Greet and check in patients.
  • Address patient requests and inquiries.
  • Resolve patient concerns.
  • Process insurance issues (i.e., verifications and authorizations) and assist patients in understanding insurance plans.
  • Return calls as necessary.
  • Various assigned administrative processes.
