About The Position
Shriners Children’s is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to join their Medford, OR team. This role functions in a specialty capacity, providing comprehensive, family-centered care to patients and families in the pediatric orthopedic Outpatient Department. The Medical Assistant is accountable for delivering the highest possible level of care to Outpatient Clinic patients and their families under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or RN.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Nice To Haves
- Associate Degree
- RMA, CCMA, NCMA
- 1 year Pediatric/Ambulatory Care
- EMR Systems
Responsibilities
- Performs all aspects of direct patient care according to current Outpatient Clinic "Standards of Care."
- Documents interventions per policy and lists plan consistently
- Obtains patient history and vital signs
- Prepares and maintains exam and treatment areas
- Obtains and graphs patient's weight, height, arm span, and head circumference according to Outpatient Clinic "Growth Chart Graphing (Plotting)"
- Completes lab work the same day ordered
- Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment with PCA/cast tech.
- Maintains equipment and notifies supervisor/manager when new equipment is needed
- Applies non-corrective casts at physician's direction
- Safely removes casts, cleans patient, covers affected limb and instructs family on skin care
