Medical Assistant - Cardiology Clinic
About The Position
This role provides basic nursing care and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment within a Cardiology Clinic. The Medical Assistant will explain procedures to patients, obtain and record vital signs, and assist with diagnostic tests and specimen collection. The position also involves maintaining patient records, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality, and collaborating with healthcare team members to deliver quality patient care. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will assist with the daily operations of the office, including inventory management and medication calls under supervision.
Requirements
- BLS training.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an approved Certified Nurse Assistant course preferred.
- Previous Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
- Previous Cardiology experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing care and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
- Explains procedures to patient prior to initiation and participates in instruction as necessary.
- Obtains and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weights as required.
- Records information from the patient in a clear and accurate manner.
- Respects the confidentiality of patient, hospital, and physician related information.
- Provides for patient privacy at all times.
- Assists with diagnostic tests, special procedures and specimen collection as required.
- Communicates and collaborates with health care team members to provide quality patient care.
- Competently performs core and unit specific clinical skills.
- Answers calls promptly.
- Knowledgeable of proper and safe use of patient care equipment.
- Utilizes basic problem solving skills to prevent/resolve issues.
- Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of medical and office supplies for day to day operations.
- Assists LPN/RN/NP/Physician with daily operations of the office.
- Calls in medications to pharmacy under direct supervision of Physician/NP.
