About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for working under Physician, RN/LPN to provide direct patient care. This person will check patients in upon their arrival. Using EMR the MA will obtain vital signs, Review of Systems; medication lists, family and social histories, and reviews the medical records for completeness before the physician sees the patient. This person makes sure appropriate supplies are available for the patient's visit and any procedures as well as makes sure that the rooms are sterile and safe. Additionally the MA will support physicians and nurses with in office procedures and administer logs such as refrigeration control. Join us. Join great. Requirements

  • Working under Physician, RN/LPN to provide direct patient care.
  • Using EMR to obtain vital signs, Review of Systems; medication lists, family and social histories.
  • Reviewing medical records for completeness.
  • Ensuring appropriate supplies are available.
  • Ensuring rooms are sterile and safe.
  • Supporting physicians and nurses with in office procedures.
  • Administering logs such as refrigeration control.
  • Explaining procedures, treatments and reinforcing provider recommendations to patients using the AIDET process.
  • Providing prescribed sample medications in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Administering injections/immunizations as prescribed by providers.
  • Using EHR to record visit, medication(s) and entry of patient information such as vital signs, ROS, medication lists, family and social history accurately.
  • Providing point of care testing.
  • Recording test results, reports and other procedural documentation in patient chart.
  • Reporting to providers for further instructions or sign off.
  • Maintaining sample medications by logging their receipt.
  • Sending written, verbal or computer generated requests for prescription refills to pharmacies as requested by provider.
  • Tracking lab and procedure orders.
  • Communicating clinical data test/procedure results accurately to the healthcare team.
  • Initiating a patient education plan as prescribed by physician or clinic policy.
  • Communicating and instructing plan of care to patient/family/guardians.
  • Documenting understanding of instructions given in the patient's chart.
  • Completing and documenting patient phone calls in the patient's chart.
  • Assisting with office procedures as requested by physician.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality patient care and adheres to provider preferences for their patients.
  • Explains procedures, treatments and reinforces provider recommendations to patients using the AIDET process.
  • Provides prescribed sample medications in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Administers injections/immunizations as prescribed by providers.
  • Uses EHR to record visit, medication(s) and entry of patient information such as vital signs, ROS, medication lists, family and social history accurately as well as provides point of care testing.
  • Records test results, reports and other procedural documentation in patient chart and reports to providers for further instructions or sign off.
  • Maintains sample medications by logging their receipt. Sample medications must be documented in the patient's chart.
  • Sends written, verbal or computer generated requests for prescription refills to pharmacies as requested by provider.
