About The Position

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA) to join their Occupational Health and Rehabilitation department. This is a dual role requiring both clinical and administrative duties. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for various patient care functions under the direction of physicians and mid-level providers. This includes greeting and escorting patients, obtaining and recording vital signs in the Electronic Medical Record, maintaining a safe and clean environment, managing equipment and supplies, and fostering effective interpersonal relationships with patients, families, and coworkers. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience.
  • In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Greets & escorts patient to exam room.
  • Obtains & records vital signs into the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Maintains a safe & clean environment for the patient.
  • Maintains equipment & supplies.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal relationships with patients, families & coworkers.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
