About The Position
Us Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join Memorial Cardiology Associates in Houston TX. Memorial City is a vibrant, Mixed-use district in West Houston, Texas, known for its combination of commercial, residential and recreational spaces. Requirements
- High school diploma or Texas accredited GED
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience, or recent graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program with completion of program externship.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or must obtain within 90 days of hire date.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Must have experience in administration of EKG’s.
- Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
- Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
- Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required)
- Assist physicians with patient exams as needed.
- Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
- Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
- Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
- Monitors pharmacy samples, removing them from stock as expired.
- Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources.
- Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
- Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification.
- Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
- Performs other duties as required.
- May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
- May be required to move between locations as needed.
