About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Physician Practice at the Lowell Health Center. In this role, you will be critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. You will assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in the electronic medical record system, and function as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Program Medical Assisting or 5 years of medical assistant experience in lieu of program
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Taking vitals
  • Obtaining a comprehensive medical history
  • Documenting care of patient via electronic medical record
  • Administering vaccines, injections, and medications
  • Phlebotomy
  • Point of care testing
  • Medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external customers and providing information via phone, electronic messaging and in person
  • Initiating and following through on prior authorizations, referrals, and processing sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed
