The Medical Assistant (MA) performs duties under the direction of a clinical supervisor (RN/LVN/Physician/APRN) and works administratively under the Director of Nursing, to assist in the examination and treatment of individuals served in the designated Mental Health Centers. Work involves providing for the care, treatment, and general welfare of patients. The role operates under close supervision with minimal latitude for initiative and independent judgment. The MA provides direct care with utmost customer service, compassion, and integrity to individuals in a clinic setting. Responsibilities include participation in and assisting physicians during doctor’s clinics, providing professional, complex treatment and rehabilitation. The MA is responsible for measuring vital signs, taking medical history, documenting the reason for seeking care in the medical or electronic record, and providing required laboratory monitoring and medication education classes for consumers. Performs routine diagnostic and laboratory tests, which may include drawing and collecting blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. Travel may be required.
