Requirements

  • High school graduate with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a public health care setting or Medical Assistant training with two years of Public Health Care experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to exam room and prepared for MD or APRN
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, review of medications, screening tools; confirming purpose of the visit and enters into medical record.
  • Accurately obtains and records vital signs
  • Performs office procedures including but not limited to CLIA waived point of care testing, EKG, phlebotomy, and spirometry as ordered by a medical provider.
  • Maintains effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow in accordance with agency standards
  • Ensures lab results are reviewed and signed by provider and disseminated as needed.
  • May conduct client education groups and training as directed by provider and/or supervisor.
  • Will participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of client’s treatment or health/mental health care plans.
  • Maintains medical office instruments, equipment, and supplies and ensures cleanliness of equipment and environment in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
  • Maintains all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, eye wash station)
  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment and determines needed services per practice protocol.
  • Performs outreach to engage patients in preventative care services.
  • Assists with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, processing prior authorizations, messages, telephone calls, etc.
