About The Position

Medical Assistants work with health care providers to deliver primary care to clients of the Community Health Center by preparing patients for physical exams, recording health information, phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing screening tests, and performing administrative/clerical duties related to the patient care process. MA's work in a patient centered, team-based care delivery model. This position provides support to proactive patient care and care coordination. This position will require coverage at multiple clinic sites. Mileage reimbursement available per county guidelines. The goal is to fill this position as a Medical Assistant. However, applicants who can meet the minimum qualifications for the Medical Assistant within one year or less of on-the-job training are encouraged to apply as "underfill" candidates. Employees hired into the Medical Assistant level position as an underfill will be hired as a Medical Assistant underfill and then re-classified to the Medical Assistant upon passing trial service and meeting the minimum qualifications for that classification.

Requirements

Technical training beyond high school in Medical Assisting or a directly related field that allows for a State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification
One year of work experience in a similar field or work setting (e.g., nursing assistant, home health aides, personal care aides)
State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification at the time of hire

Must be able to obtain State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification within 6 months of hire
Successful completion of a background check
Driving and may require use of a personal vehicle

Nice To Haves

Training and skill to be able to administer immunizations to patients of all ages or willingness to learn
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted
Applicants must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to receive equivalency
