The Medical Assistant will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on the area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will assist providers with or perform procedures as ordered, and handle lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, and results tracking. They will also perform Point of Care testing (POCT), complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests, and administer medications and vaccines safely. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The Medical Assistant will be cross-trained to perform relevant duties within their scope and demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and ensuring equipment and supplies are in working order and areas are stocked are also key responsibilities. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
