About The Position

This role provides basic nursing care and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment within a specialty clinic. The Medical Assistant will explain procedures to patients, obtain and record vital signs, and promote good public relations for the department. Responsibilities include accurate record-keeping, maintaining patient privacy, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The position also involves assisting with diagnostic tests, special procedures, and specimen collection, while collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care. The Medical Assistant will perform core and unit-specific clinical skills, answer calls promptly, and demonstrate knowledge of patient care equipment. They will utilize problem-solving skills, assist with maintaining supply inventory, and support the daily operations of the office under the supervision of an LPN/RN/NP/Physician. Additionally, the role includes calling in medications to the pharmacy under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • BLS training.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an approved Certified Nurse Assistant course preferred.
  • Previous Nurse Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
  • Explains procedures to patient prior to initiation and participates in instruction as necessary.
  • Obtains and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weights as required.
  • Promotes good public relations for the nursing department/hospital.
  • Records information from the patient in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Respects the confidentiality of patient, hospital, and physician related information.
  • Provides for patient privacy at all times.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement.
  • Assists with diagnostic tests, special procedures and specimen collection as required.
  • Communicates and collaborates with health care team members to provide quality patient care.
  • Competently performs core and unit specific clinical skills.
  • Answers calls promptly.
  • Knowledgeable of proper and safe use of patient care equipment.
  • Utilizes basic problem solving skills to prevent/resolve issues.
  • Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of medical and office supplies for day to day operations.
  • Assists LPN/RN/NP/Physician with daily operations of the office.
  • Performs other duties delegated by supervisor as needed.
  • Calls in medications to pharmacy under direct supervision of Physician/NP.
