About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team! This role involves performing administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administration of investigative protocols. The ideal candidate must maintain a high degree of attention to detail and accurate records, provide excellent customer service in all patient interactions, and follow established protocols and procedures with exacting precision. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Work in a doctor’s office or other medical office.
  • Experience with office equipment, medical equipment used to obtain vitals, computer systems to enter data and process information.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must understand medical terminology.
  • General math skills.
  • Can regularly and consistently make sound judgments.
  • Must be organized, attentive to details, critical thinker.
  • Good communication skills, able and comfortable to collaborate with others to accomplish tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Transfer and organize data gathered from paper formats via computer, recorders, or scanners.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians’ instructions to patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Collect blood, saliva, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Greet patients arriving at clinic.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking notes, or completing medical information forms.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
  • Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
  • Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Set up and operate medical treatment and laboratory equipment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.
