About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties, including related support services. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring medical assistant tasks are completed efficiently. It involves coordinating referrals, patient communication, administering injections, assisting with procedures like EKGs and waive testing, and taking patient medical histories and vital signs. The position also includes maintaining medical supply inventory, registering patients, verifying insurance, preparing for audits, and handling end-of-day financial reconciliation. Additionally, the role requires preparing for the next day's clinic, providing exceptional customer service, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification
  • Knowledgeable of personal computers
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring timely and efficient completion of medical assistant tasks and duties.
  • Assists in the coordination of referrals and patient communication.
  • Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, and waive testing.
  • Assists with medical examinations as specified and within the medical assistant scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history and vital signs, ensuring all quality metrics are completed and documented in compliance with the center's regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Participates in and prepares for Center internal/external audits.
  • Ability to perform medical assistant duties in all areas.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies, immunization, and operating supplies.
  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
  • Maintains and stocks required medical supplies in exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, including updating patient information and data entry of demographics.
  • Verifies and activates appropriate patient insurance plans as needed.
  • Ensures accurate posting of encounter data and posts to appropriate funding/insurance plans.
  • Completes end-of-day reconciliation reports, ensuring cash collected reconciles with the system cash report and that cash is secured and deposited into the safe at the end of the day.
  • Prepares for the next day's clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation; updates proof of income, pre-registers patients, and screens patients for program eligibility.
  • Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally, greeting each customer with an appropriate introduction and addressing concerns prior to the end of the interaction.
  • Assists with other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
