About The Position

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience for patients across DermCare’s network. This position supports both administrative and clinical functions and serves as a key liaison between patients and providers. You'll be responsible for preparing patients for examination, assisting during procedures, managing documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), and ensuring that all back-office operations run smoothly. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, empathy, and adaptability, especially in fast-paced environments such as dermatology, cosmetic, and surgical settings.

  • Medical Assistant Certification strongly preferred
  • Dermatology experience a plus
  • Bilingual abilities a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients while upholding HIPAA and OSHA standards
  • Use computer systems to input patient data, medical histories, and visit notes
  • Answer phone calls, return messages, and schedule patient appointments
  • Relay lab results to patients and properly document follow-up within the EHR
  • Complete insurance forms and submit prescription requests and authorizations
  • Create certified letters for patients who are noncompliant with prescribed treatments
  • Maintain accurate and organized medical records and patient communications
  • Ensure clinical inventory is maintained and supply needs are communicated
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for medical, cosmetic, or surgical procedures
  • Assist providers during clinical exams and treatments
  • Take medical histories, record chief complaints, and input visit notes
  • Administer medications under provider direction and ensure proper consent documentation
  • Capture and document pre- and post-procedure photos
  • Collect, label, and process lab specimens
  • Instruct patients on medication usage, wound care, and follow-up procedures
  • Remove sutures, change dressings, and sterilize medical instruments
  • Monitor expiration dates for office-use medications and patient samples
  • Restock and disinfect exam rooms to maintain a clean clinical environment
  • Provide emotional support and attentive care to help patients feel at ease
