About The Position

The Oncology Institute (TOI) is a growing organization dedicated to advancing oncology by delivering specialized, value-based cancer care in the community setting. TOI provides cutting-edge, evidence-based cancer care, including clinical trials and transfusions, to a large patient population. With a significant number of clinicians and clinic locations across multiple states, TOI is committed to improving oncology care. The organization is expanding its presence in Florida and is seeking passionate Medical Assistants to join their collaborative care teams. At The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, Medical Assistants are crucial in enhancing the patient experience, offering support with dignity, empathy, and hope during a patient's journey. This role offers opportunities for cross-training in patient registration and medical records support.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required.
  • 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related role in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred.
  • BLS and CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Live and exemplify TOI core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff members.
  • Participate in company initiatives and team activities.
  • Responsible for documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) system(s).
  • Requesting external medical records and preparing patient charts prior to patient appointments.
  • Performing and documenting patient vital signs.
  • Completing review of systems and intake documentation.
  • Preparing patients for physician care.
  • Administering basic first aid.
  • Performing venipunctures and non-intravenous injections.
  • Performing basic laboratory procedures.
  • Observing and reporting patients’ signs or symptoms.
  • Able to serve as a chaperone in patient examinations as needed.
  • Assisting with patient examinations, procedures, or treatments.
  • Administering certain medications as directed by the physician.
  • Other duties as assigned.
